Set along the Pacuare River on the Caribbean side of Talamanca Mountains range, the Pacuare Jungle Lodge is a unique and adventurous property in the secluded jungle.

The property itself is 850 acres of the pristine rainforest with 20 bungalows set along the river. Guest rooms offer privacy, decor is understated and elegant to blend with the natural surroundings. Rooms don’t have electricity, so there are few amenities available.

In the evenings bungalows are illuminated with warm candle light. They are equipped with a safe and a telephone to communicate with the lobby. The main lodge features minimal electric lighting and there is Wi-Fi in the office and an outlet to recharge small electrical devices.

The Arenal Springs Resort is located just outside of La Fortuna town in the province of Alajuela. With on-site private hot springs and great volcano views.

The resort has 90 rooms, spread throughout the property as the ground floor “casitas – each featuring two rooms – that have lovely views of the volcano and the surrounding gardens. Each guest room has comfortable rustic furnishings with modern touches, including A/C, cable TV, safe deposit box, mini bar and coffee maker. Your day begins when you are picked up from your hotel in the Arenalvolcano area and driven twp hours to a small town called Los Chiles, in a remote part of Costa Rica just 4km from the Nicaraguan border.

Once you arrive at Los Chiles you will board a small covered, motorized boat and enjoy a three-hour river tour along the Rio Frio that is part of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. Rio Frio is a slow flowing river winding through canyons towards the Caño Negro lake where you will pass tropical rain forest, pastures and marshland.

Day by Day

Day 1

Arrive in San Jose where one of our representatives will meet you and show you to your private transfer. Spend the afternoon resting in the Victorianesque mansion, Grano de Oro, in the San Jose downtown, and try out some of the best food Costa Rica has to offer. Stay at Grano de Oro Hotel. Day

Day 2

Set off early in the morning for an enriching nature experience ahead-stay at the Pacuare Jungle Lodge, uniquely adventurous property featuring luxurious bungalows amid the tropical rainforest of the Talamanca Mountains range. Stay at Pacuare Lodge.

Day 3

Enjoy the stunning nature around you, explore the trails and indulge in the meal inclusive plan. The lodge is deeply committed to sustainability, and you can learn everything about their nature conservation efforts. A $50 credit to use at the Jawa Juü Spa is included as part of the package. Day 4

It’s time for an exciting adventure! Raft out of the Pacuare Lodge, through amazing canyons, on a fast paced river featuring III and IV class rapids, number of waterfalls and a great swimming hole. A private transfer will then take you to La Fortuna, where you will stay at the beautiful Arenal Springs Hotel.

Day 5

A boat tour through Rio Frio and Caño Negro Nature Reserve will show you another face of Costa Rica. See monkeys, caimans and colorful birds as you sail down the slow river near the Nicaraguan border. Stay at Arenal Springs Hotel.

Day 6

Day 7

Take a transfer to the San Jose International Airport where you will catch your flight back home.
